Women's Soccer: Nicki Hunsicker And Brittany Casey Earn GNAC Weekly Honors

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Fresh off a perfect 3-0-0 week, two members of the Norwich University women's soccer team were honored by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) with weekly awards on Monday.

Junior GK Nicki Hunsicker earned the league's "Goalkeeper of the Week" accolades, while freshman F Brittany Casey picked up the conference's "Rookie of the Week" laurels.

Hunsicker made two saves in Norwich's 3-1 victory over Lyndon State on Thursday. On Saturday, the Emmaus, Pa., product stopped all seven shots that she faced en route to shutting out GNAC rival Lasell, 4-0. For the season, Hunsicker leads the Cadets with a 1.60 goals-against average and two shutouts.

Casey, meanwhile, continued to play well with a total of three goals and one assist over the course of the week. The first-year forward netted one goal against Lyndon State before scoring two goals and chipping in one assist against Lasell. For the year, the Pointe-Claire, Que., native tops the squad in goals (seven), assists (five) and points (19).

Norwich (7-7-1, 4-5-1 GNAC) will put its three-game win streak on the line on Tuesday, Oct. 20, when the Cadets travel to West Hartford, Conn., to take on GNAC rival St. Joseph (Conn.).
