Women's Swimming & Diving: Norwich Places Sixth At GNAC Championships

BOSTON - Anne Vayda produced three Top 3 performances in the pool to help the Norwich women's swimming and diving team to a sixth-place finish at the GNAC Championships on Saturday.

Vayda placed runner-up in the 50-yard breaststroke with a clocking of 33.93 seconds. The freshman also finished runner-up in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:40.46), and took third in the 200-yard IM (2:30.87).

Victoria Amador posted a second-place finish of her own, placing runner-up in the one-meter diving event with a score of 279.85 points.

Katie Edwards and Christine Doudell added Top 8 finishes as well. Edwards placed fifth in the 200-yard freestyle with a clocking of 2:12.17 and took seventh in the 500-yard freestyle (6:20.83), while Doudell took eighth in the 50-yard freestyle (28.93).

Norwich amassed 42 points and finished ahead of Husson (14 points). Simmons won the team title with 198 points, while Elms came in a distant second with 113 points.

Norwich will now break for six weeks before returning to action on Jan. 12-13, when the Cadets travel to Maine to take on Bates and Colby.
