NU Defeats Pine Manor In Five-Game Thriller, 3-2

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Lisset Magdaleno produced NU's first triple-double of the season, and Molly Rice notched her second straight double-double to lead the Norwich volleyball team past Pine Manor, 3-2, Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall.
The Cadets (14-7, 8-4 GNAC), who defeated St. Joseph's (Maine) earlier in the day, lock up a spot in the conference postseason tournament with the Saturday sweep. The game scores were: 20-30, 30-18, 30-13, 31-33 and 15-12.
Magdaleno, who has stepped up throughout the course of the 2007 campaign, registered her finest game of the season with 19 kills, 10 digs and 11 total blocks. Rice, meanwhile, continued her steady play, recording team-highs in assists (33) and digs (24).
Amanda Plachek stuffed the stat sheet as well, totaling nine kills and 12 digs to go along with a team-best seven service aces. Sondra Connelly added 19 digs, while Keira Holmes chipped in 16 digs.
Norwich will wrap up its six-match homestand on Wednesday, Oct. 24, when the Cadets host in-state rival Castleton State at Andrews Hall. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
