Volleyball: JWU sweeps Norwich 3-0

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Norwich University women's volleyball team was swept 3-0 by defending Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) champion Johnson & Wales University on Saturday afternoon.

JWU remained undefeated on the season, downing the Cadets in straight sets 25-8, 25-15 and 25-14.

Sophomore Monika Schneider (Brookline, N.H.) and freshman Julia Schroeder (Victorville, Calif.) led Norwich with seven and five kills respectively. Schroeder also tied for the team lead in digs with seven.

Sophomore Michele Zummo (Highland Mills, N.Y.) chipped in with four kills and six digs. Sophomore Marissa Perrotti (Moultonborough, N.H.) had three kills and freshman Rebecca Finley (Waynesville, Mo.) tallied a career-high three kills.

Sophomore Brianna Dawson (Katonah, N.Y.) tied Schroeder with seven digs to lead the defensive effort.

Junior Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) had 20 assists to pace the offense.

Norwich hosts Colby-Sawyer on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at Andrews Hall in non-conference action for the final time. Next year, Colby-Sawyer will be joining the GNAC as a full-time league member in all sports.
