NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Norwich University Head Athletic Trainer Dave Botelho announced the hiring of Shelby Alberghini on Tuesday to the staff.

Alberghini will be a part-time assistant; joining Botelho, Associate Athletic Trainer Nikki Therrien, and assistant athletic trainers Kari Wentland and Ian Smith for the 2016-17 season after graduating from Castleton University this past May.

"We are very excited to announce the addition of Shelby Alberghini to our Athletic Training staff for the upcoming year," Botelho said. "Shelby comes to us as a recent graduate of Castleton where she excelled academically and held leadership positions in several athletic training related clubs. Shelby has a very positive, enthusiastic attitude, as well as a passion for athletic training, and I have no doubt that she will have a positive impact on our student athletes."

In addition to being a double major, Alberghini served as a teaching aide for athletic training courses. She volunteered with the annual Spartan Race in Rutland, participated in Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (EATA) Quizbowl 2016. She also helps coach gymnastics for U-32 High School.
