Athletics: Five Cadets make GNAC All-Sportsmanship

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) announced their All-Conference teams over the past week, and Norwich had five student-athletes named to the All-Sportsmanship team. 

Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio)Mary-Kait Mace (Canton, N.Y.)Ryan Fitzpatrick (Millbury, Mass.)Andrew Turner (Pawtucket, R.I.), and Robyn Hageman (Westlake, Ohio) were all selected as their team's representative for this year's team. 

Emily Oliver is named to the team for the second year in a row, as the senior was her team's representative last year as well. She served as team captain and started all 25 games and played all 95 sets, on her way to breaking the program's single-season assists and assists per set records in 2018. 

Also her team's captain, Mary-Kait Mace helped the Norwich women's soccer team to a 7-9-1 record on the year, the program's best record since 2011. The junior played in 15 games, starting 14.

Ryan Fitzpatrick was part of men's soccer team that went 11-3-4 overall and 7-2-2 in the conference, advancing all the way to the GNAC Semifinals for the 15th straight season. Fitzpatrick saw action in two games at keeper, totaling 27:33 in goal for the maroon and gold.

Andrew Turner and Robyn Hageman are both part of the Norwich cross country program that will travel to compete at the NCAA Division III New England Regionals at Bowdoin College on November 10.

The All-Sportsmanship team was established to honor one player from each team in the conference for outstanding dedication to sportsmanship and for their portrayal of good sportsmanship, fair play, and a positive attitude.
