PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Norwich University baseball team traveled to face Plattsburgh State in a non-conference, nine-inning matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cardinals bested the Cadets 10-0 for the lopsided victory.
Plattsburgh got one run in the first inning and two in the third for a 4-0 lead after four innings. The Cards tacked on one more in the sixth, four in the seventh and two in the eighth for the 10-0 final.
Freshman center fielder Michael Koytikh (Melrose, Mass.) led the Cadets offensively with two hits in four at-bats. Senior second baseman Mike Lesco (Somers, Conn.) went one-for-three with a double while junior third baseman Brendon Profita (New Milford, Conn.), sophomore shortstop Jacob Parizo (Groton, Conn.), freshman catcher Connor McGee (Wakefield, R.I.) and junior left fielder Brady Doherty (Sandwich, Mass.) all had one hit in the loss.
Sophomore Chris Henderson (Stafford, Va.) tossed five and one-third innings to fall to 1-4 on the season. He allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and three walks. He registered one strikeout.
With the loss Norwich falls to 5-16 on the season while Plattsburgh improves to 8-15. The Cadets are next in action on Friday, April 19th for their GNAC home opener against Lasell College. Game times are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
