WESTWOOD, Mass. - The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Preseason Poll was announced on Monday morning, and Norwich University's second season in the conference sees them projected to finish in the seventh-place spot in 2018.
The 122nd season of Norwich football will see a mirror schedule of last season's inaugural year of NEWMAC play, with Norwich slated to start their year off against the Mustangs of Morrisville State on September 1st before back to back trophy games against St. Lawrence and Castleton, as they battle for the Hoffman Cup and Sap Bucket Trophy respectively.
Conference play begins on September 22 at Coast Guard, as the Cadets square off with the Bears once again in the Battle for the Mug game. NEWMAC matchups at home include a date with reigning conference champion Springfield on September 29th and a visit from the Engineers of MIT on November 3rd, among others.
Last season saw the Cadets struggle in their first year of NEWMAC play, posting a 1-9 overall record and a 1-6 mark within the conference. With a strong cast of returning players on both sides of the ball, a host of new coaches, and a crop of exciting newcomers, the Cadets are certain to see improvement in 2018 under Head Coach Mark Murnyack.
