Men’s Basketball: Three Cadets Earn GNAC All-Conference Honors

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Three student-athletes on the Norwich men's basketball team were named to All-Conference Teams, when the Great Northeast Athletic Conference released their season awards list on Wednesday night.

On the All-Conference Second Team is two-time GNAC Player of the Week, junior forward Antonio Davis. Davis has started all 26 games to-date, racking up 722 minutes on the court with 409 points and 233 rebounds. He has achieved a 52-percent shooting average from the field, and is 62-percent from the free-throw line.

Earning Third Team All-Conference honors is senior guard Jaren Jeffcoat, who is second on the team in points with 334 this season and 122 boards. Jeffcoat is currently shooting 72-percent from the line and 50-percent from the field and was named to the conference's weekly honor roll twice in the regular season.

Junior guard and team captain Josh Cabrera earned All-Sportsmanship honors. Cabrera is ranked third on the team with 285 points and is listed first in trifectas, netting 37 on the season to-date. He has the highest free-throw percentage among the Cadets, shooting 50-of-61 for 82-percent and most recently led Norwich in the quarterfinal round with 21 points.

The Cadets currently hold a 16-10 overall record and have advanced to the semifinal round of the GNAC postseason tournament after their 62-44 defeat of Emerson College on Tuesday night. They will play St. Joseph's (Maine) tonight at 7 p.m. in the Monks' Harold Alfond Center for a chance to go to the championships.
