Men’s Basketball: Norwich Faces 72-62 Setback At Suffolk

BOSTON, Mass. – The Cadets faced a 10-point setback against the Suffolk Rams in Regan Gymnasium on Tuesday night, as Norwich fell to their hosts 72-62.

The Cadets (11-8, 7-5 GNAC) had three players shoot for double-digits in the game, as senior Jaren Jeffcoat and junior Antonio Davis each contributed 16 points. Junior captain Josh Cabrera put in another 15 points, while he and Jeffcoat made three treys apiece in the action.

It was a battle throughout the game between the conference rivals. Although Suffolk maintained the lead for the 10 minutes leading up to halftime, Norwich was able to come within a point before the break with a 3-pointer by Williams who brought the score to 31-30 before the buzzer.

The Cadets were unable to overcome Suffolk and regain the lead in the second half, but the team kept the spread to single digits the majority of the time. Norwich was down by five points in the final three minutes of action but missed their next few chances from the outside of the arc to give them the needed edge.

Norwich will travel to Nashua, N.H. on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game against the Rivier Raiders at the Muldoon Fitness Center. They will then return home to Andrews Hall to host Johnson & Wales in a GNAC twinbill at 1 p.m., followed by the women’s conference action at 3 p.m.
