WINTHROP, Mass. – The Norwich University men's basketball team has been projected to finish eighth out of the 11 teams competing in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference during the 2017-18 season, according to the annual Preseason Coaches Poll released on Monday.
Norwich tallied 50 points overall in the voting, falling behind the projected first place Albertus Magnus total of 118 points. All 11 head coaches from the conference's members voted, overwhelming selected Albertus Magnus to take the conference crown for the second year in a row.
Other first-place vote-getters included Johnson & Wales and Mount Ida, who each received a single first-place vote.
The voting broke down as follows;

4. Saint Joseph's Maine - 83
5. Lasell - 79
6. Regis (Mass.) - 62
7. Emmanuel - 57

11. Rivier – 16
The Cadets will open up their 2017-18 campaign on November 16th when they take on UMass-Boston on the road. The home-opener will take place on Saturday, November 18th against Plymouth State, and the conference opener will be on December 9th against the projected first-place Albertus-Magnus Falcons at home at 1:00 PM.
