NORTHFIELD, Vt. – A 16-0 run to end the first half gave the Suffolk Rams all the room they needed to defeat the Cadets on Tuesday afternoon, as the Rams took a 74-59 victory in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
A tight game quickly dissolved into a Suffolk rout at the end of the first half when Suffolk put together an uninterrupted 16 points in the final five minutes of the half to turn a tie game into a 46-26 advantage at the break. Norwich tried to rally in the second half, multiple times coming close to cutting the deficit to single digits, but Suffolk responded every time to hold onto the lead. The buzzer sounded, and Suffolk walked away with their fourth GNAC victory of the year.
Ryan Booth (Northfield, Vt.) put together a neat double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Jesse Davis (Woodinville, Wash.) returned from an injury that has kept him out of four straight contests with a team-high 14 points on 5-9 shooting from the field. Brendan Mulson led the way for Suffolk with a career-high 29 points.
The loss drops the Cadets down to 6-9 on the year and a 3-3 mark within the GNAC. The boys will look to get things back on track this Thursday when they take on GNAC rival Anna Maria on the road at 6:00 PM.
