WATERVILLE, Maine - The Norwich men's basketball team picked up their first victory of the 2018-19 season in impressive fashion on Saturday afternoon, outscoring Thomas College 35-15 in the second half to roll to a 79-47 victory.
The cold shooting that plagued Norwich in their season opener was quickly proven to not be a habit, as the Cadets opened the game on a 17-6 run going 7-9 from the field during the run. Heading into the half, the Cadets had already built a 44-32 lead over the Thomas Terriers.
Norwich's defense locked down any offensive effort from Thomas in the second half, holding their opponent to an 18.5% mark from the field, including a 1-11 effort from three. The Cadets outscored Thomas 35-15 to run away with the 79-47 victory and even their record at 1-1 for the year.
Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) led the way for Norwich with a career-high 23 points and six rebounds, shooting a blistering 80% from behind the three-point line. Christopher Bryant (Crestview, Fla.) put up his first double-double of the season, totaling 13 points and 13 rebounds, as the Cadets put together a 45.9% effort from the field as a team.
The Cadets will stay on the road for the next tilt, traveling to Plymouth State for a Tuesday night matchup with the Panthers at 6:00 PM. After that, they'll return to Northfield for their home opener, hosting Lesley University on November 17th at 1:00 PM.
