NASHUA, N.H. - The Norwich University men's basketball team hit the road on Saturday afternoon to take on Rivier University in non-conference action, as the Cadets took down their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) counterparts by a 91-83 final score.
The Cadets came out firing, starting the game with a 15-2 run capped by a Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) three. Norwich outscored the Raiders 26-10 over the first ten minutes on their way to a 48-38 halftime lead.
Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savannah, Ga.) and Christopher Bryant (Crestview, Fla.) kept the Norwich offense rolling in the second half, scoring the first three buckets of the half in the painted area. The Raiders put forth a valiant effort in the second half, cutting the lead to as little as three points multiple times and outscoring Norwich 45-43 in the second half, but the Cadets stayed in control and took home the 91-83 victory.
Christopher Bryant put up another monster double-double effort with a game-high 22 points and 15 rebounds while senior Daniel Haimes (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) added in 20 points on 6-10 shooting off the bench. Kyle Booth put up his first double-double of the year with 18 points and 11 rebounds along with three assists and three blocks as Norwich shot 58.0% from the field, their best mark this season.
The win evens Norwich's record to 4-4 this year heading into the finale of their first semester of play before the winter break. They'll host Northern Vermont University-Johnson at 7:00 PM in Andrews Hall Gymnasium on Tuesday, December 11th.
