OFFICIAL CONFERENCE RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savannah, Ga.) collected his first career Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honor on Wednesday afternoon, as he was named the conference's Rookie of the Week.

The Cadets were in action twice over the winter break, taking on MCLA and SUNY Delhi on the 29th and 30th. Lewis Jr. started off with 15 points, eight rebounds, and a block in Norwich's 78-69 loss to MCLA on Saturday night. The Cadets bounced back the next day with a big 88-65 victory over SUNY-Delhi on Sunday afternoon. Donovan Lewis Jr. put up his first career double-double with 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks on the day.

Appearing in all 11 games this year and starting the last seven straight, Lewis Jr. is averaging 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, and 1.6 assists per game so far this year. He sits fourth in the conference with a 57.8% field goal percentage and eighth in total blocks this year.

This is the first Rookie of the Week for the Cadets this season, as current sophomore Jesse Davis (Woodinville, Wash.) took home both the Rookie and Player of the Week honors for Week Six of last season.

Donovan Lewis Jr. and the rest of the Cadets will be back in action at home on Friday night against the AMCATS of Anna Maria in both team's opening game of conference play, set to tipoff at 2:00 PM in Andrews Hall Gymnasium.
