WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Norwich University men's basketball team fell in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday afternoon, as the Blue Jays of the University of Saint Joseph dropped the Cadets by a 78-60 final score.
The Cadets were outshot in the first half as USJ built an 11-point halftime lead behind a 50.0/41.7/87.5 shooting split as a team compared to Norwich's 38.7/33.3/100 half, as the Blue Jays entered the locker room up 40-29. Norwich put up a better performance in the second half, but the lead was enough for USJ to cruise to the 78-60 victory behind Chris Childs' 16 second-half points.
Christopher Bryant (Crestview, Fla) and Jesse Davis (Woodinville, Wash.) each put up 12 points to lead Norwich, with Bryant pulling down nine rebounds as well. Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) pulled down a game-high 10 boards to go with eight points and three assists.
With the loss, Norwich falls to 6-11 on the year and a 0-4 record within the conference. They'll try to pick up that elusive first conference victory their next time on the court when they host Emmanuel on Wednesday afternoon for another GNAC battle.
