BOSTON, Mass. - The Norwich University men's basketball team fell on the road Saturday afternoon, as the Suffolk University Rams dispatched the Cadets by a 64-56 final score in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
The Rams came out and immediately went on a 9-2 run to start the game, but Norwich responded with a 7-0 run of their own to keep things tight. This turned out to be indicative of the game as a whole, as this contest saw five ties and four lead changes over a tightly contested contest. In the end, Suffolk managed to hold off the Cadets by allowing just three points in the final two minutes to seal up the 64-56 victory.
Jesse Davis (Woodinville, Wash.) led the Cadets with a game-high 18 points along with three rebounds and a pair of steals. Caleb Casinas (Aiea, Hawaii) continued to improve as his minute totals increase, netting 15 points and five assists. As a team, Norwich put up a 37.5/26.3/60.0 shooting split and turned 16 Suffolk turnovers into 19 points.
The loss is Norwich's eighth in a row and drops them to 6-13 overall on the year and 0-6 within the conference. They'll return home for their next matchup when they take on Green Mountain College on Wednesday night in Andrews Hall Gymnasium.
