NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's basketball team fell to instate rival Green Mountain College on Wednesday night, as the Eagles pulled off the 69-57 victory.
Things started off well enough for Norwich, as Kyle Booth (Northfield, Vt.) hit a free throw to cap a 7-0 run to start the game. Green Mountain responded with an 8-0 run of their own, however, before Jesse Davis (Woodinville, Wash.) drilled a three-pointer soon after to give Norwich a slim 14-11 lead. That would prove to be the last time the Cadets would be on the right side of the score sheet for the evening, as Green Mountain took the lead and went on an 11-3 run to open up a 22-14 advantage. That was all the space they needed, as they coasted to a 31-25 halftime lead and the eventual 69-57 victory.
Jesse Davis led Norwich with 14 points on 5-13 shooting from the field, while Donovan Lewis Jr. (Savannah, Ga.) put up 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench. As a team, Norwich committed 22 turnovers, including 14 in the first half, that GMC turned into 28 points.
With their ninth loss in a row, Norwich falls to 6-14 overall on the year. They'll try to break the losing streak next Saturday when they host conference rival Albertus Magnus for a 1:00 PM tilt in Andrews Hall.
