Men's Ice Hockey: Tallent And Kashirsky Named ECAC East-NESCAC All-Stars

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - After helping Norwich to its 11th straight ECAC East regular season title over the winter, a pair of Norwich University men's ice hockey players were named ECAC East-NESCAC All-Stars as Nikita Kashirsky and Eric Tallent earned the distinction.

Kashirsky, who topped the Cadets in goals (17), assists (17) and points (34), was selected as the ECAC East "Player of the Year". The Moscow, Russia, native also led the team with eight power play goals. The senior forward was one of two Cadets to be named to the All-ECAC East first team for the second consecutive season.

A junior defenseman from Garland Texas, Tallent joined Kashirsky on the ECAC East first team after authoring a tremendous season for the Cadets. He led all Norwich defensemen in goals (five), assists (13) and points (18). Tallent was particularly effective on the Cadets' power play, finishing the season ranked tied for second on the club with three power play markers.

The two players will be honored at the 2009 New England Hockey Writers Banquet on Monday, April 11 at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Mass. The All-Star teams and special award winners will be presented.
