Men’s Hockey: Janke Tabbed ECAC East Player of the Week

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Sophomore forward Travis Janke of the Norwich men's ice hockey team was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 20 on Monday night.

Janke (Swift Current, Saskatchewan) had a memorable weekend in helping lead the Cadets to two wins over New England College and Saint Anselm. Janke posted his first career hat trick and added an assist to help lead NU to a 5-2 comeback win over Saint Anselm on Saturday. He also posted two assists, including the primary assist on the game-winning goal in Friday's 6-3 win over New England College.

Janke helped Norwich erase a 1-0 Saint Anselm lead after one period of play by scoring two goals to turn it into a 2-1 lead for NU heading into the second intermission. He then completed his hat trick late in the third period on the Cadets' fourth goal of the game.

In Friday night's game, Janke assisted on Shane Gorman's eventual game-winning goal to help Norwich down the upset minded 15th-ranked Pilgrims in NU's home opener.

Janke has followed up his sensational freshman campaign which culminated with him earning the ECAC East Rookie of the Year award with another strong start this season as a sophomore. He currently leads the team with four goals and nine assists for 13 points. Janke's 3.25 points-per-game average ranks second in the nation to only Middlebury's Charlie Strauss.
