Men’s Hockey: Thomas Named ECAC East Player of the Week

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior forward Kyle Thomas of the Norwich University men's ice hockey team was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) East Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 12.

Thomas (Waltham, Mass.) scored three goals and added four assists to help lead the newly-minted nationally No. 1-ranked Cadets to a sweep on their road trip to Maine this past weekend.

Thomas was all over the scoresheet in Friday's night 7-4 win over the University of New England as the speedy winger potted two goals and dished out three assists for a new career-high five-point game.  He had a hand in three of the Cadets' first four goals to help NU rally from an early 1-0 deficit and take a 4-1 lead heading into the second intermission.

Thomas followed up on Saturday night by scoring the eventual game-winning goal and adding an assist in a 5-1 win over Southern Maine. He currently leads all of Division III with a 3.50 average points per game.

Norwich (2-0-0, 2-0-0 ECAC East) returns to Kreitzberg Arena this Friday for its home opener against No. 15 New England College at 7 p.m. The Cadets then follow up with Saint Anselm on Saturday at 4 p.m.
