NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich men’s hockey team will play for the first time in 2011-12 at Kreitzberg Arena on Sunday, Oct. 30 in an exhibition game against Trois-Rivieres at 3 p.m.
Tickets are general admission and are $5 for everyone that is not a Norwich University student, who will be admitted free of charge. There will be no advance ticket sales. The Kreitzberg Arena and Doyle Hall box offices will open two hours ahead of game time at 1 p.m. on gameday.
Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. Season ticket holders’ passes will not be honored for the game.
Norwich enters its 102nd year of hockey coming off a 22-6-3 record and another appearance in the NCAA Division III Frozen Four a year ago. The Cadets won their unprecedented 13th straight ECAC East regular season title and ninth ECAC East Tournament title.
Trois-Rivieres (French for Three Rivers) is a Canadian university located in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, which is almost directly in between Montreal and Quebec City. The school enrollment is around 12,500.
Last year, they finished with a 19-8-1 league record and were ranked the eighth best team in all of Canada.
During the 2010-2011 season, the Patriots played three U.S. Division I teams in October. They lost 7-6 to Dartmouth; 5-4 to Princeton and 6-3 to Cornell.
Since beginning play in 1970, Trois-Rivieres has won four Canadian national championships.
Their roster is almost entirely made up of players from the QMJHL (Quebec Major Junior league) or the LHJAAAQ (the top junior A league in Quebec).
