MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Senior goalie Braeden Ostepchuk (Lethbridge, Alberta) earned his third New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Goalie of the Week award on Monday afternoon.
Ostepchuk had another brilliant performance on Friday night, stopping all 29 shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season and 12th overall of his career. He made 15 saves in the third period, including multiple in the closing minutes to help Norwich kill off two separate 5-on-3 power plays while clinging to a 1-0 lead.
Ostepchuk also earned NEHC Goalie of the Week honors on Nov. 6 and Nov. 13. He has earned the NEHC Goalie of the Week award for the sixth time in his career as he now is tied for the national lead in shutouts this season.
Ostepchuk is also the Norwich men's hockey career shutouts record holder with his 12 clean sheets.
He is 4-3-1 on the season with a 1.75 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.
Norwich (6-3-1, 5-1-1 NEHC) closes out the first half of the season on Friday, Dec. 8 when it hosts Castleton University at 7 p.m. in Kreitzberg Arena. The Cadets are ranked 11th in the USCHO.com Rankings and 12th in the d3hockey.com poll that were both released on Monday as well.
