MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Junior Tom Aubrun (Chamonix, France) and freshman Maxime Borduas (St. Cesaire, Quebec) of the Norwich University men's ice hockey team earned New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) weekly honors for their part in helping the Cadets to a 2-0 weekend.
Aubrun earned his fourth NEHC Goalie of the Week award on Monday after backstopping Norwich to two shutout victories over the top teams in the conference in Babson and UMass Boston.
Aubrun made 19 saves in a 4-0 win over Babson on Friday, before following up with a terrific 28-save performance in a 2-0 win over UMass Boston on Saturday.
Aubrun stopped all 47 shots he faced on the weekend and now has three shutouts this season. He has compiled an 8-3-3 record with a 1.87 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.
Borduas continued his recent offensive tear with four more points on the weekend to give him eight points over his last four games.
Borduas scored the game-winning goal vs. UMass Boston on Saturday and then he had a three-point night, including an assist on the game-winning goal in a 4-0 win over Babson on Friday.
He has scored three goals with five assists over his last four games to help lead Norwich to a 3-0-1 record in that span vs. four of the top six teams in the conference.
Norwich vaulted all the way up to the No. 10 spot in the d3hockey.com national poll after not being ranked since December. The Cadets also slotted in at No. 13 in the USCHO.com rankings as well.
The Cadets will play a home and home series with Castleton this weekend as they host the in-state rival Spartans at 7 p.m. on Friday, before taking the trip down to Rutland on Saturday for another 7 p.m. faceoff.
Friday night will serve as Norwich's Gold Out Night with gold towels handed out to all fans in attendance.
