NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Freshman forward Braedyn Aubin (Woodstock, Ontario) scored his first collegiate goal to lift the Norwich University men's hockey team to a 1-0 victory over Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon at Kreitzberg Arena to close out Alumni Weekend.

Aubin scored at the 16:10 mark, picking off a USM defensive zone clearing attempt and then firing a wrist shot that USM goalie Anthony D'Aloisio got a piece of, but the puck deflected up over his shoulder and as he tried to scramble back the puck bounced off his back and into the net for what would prove to be the game's only goal.

Senior goalie Tom Aubrun (Chamonix, France) stopped all 19 shots he faced to pick up his third consecutive shutout to open the season and his 10th career shut out.

Norwich out shot Southern Maine 40-19 in the game.

Norwich (3-0-0, 2-0-0 NEHC) will head on the road next weekend for the first time, heading to No. 5-ranked Hobart for a rematch of the last two NEHC Championship games on Friday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. The Cadets will close out the New York portion of its NEHC schedule on Saturday with a 4 p.m. matchup at Skidmore.
