Men's Lacrosse: Kriger takes home fifth career Goalie of the Week award

FULL CONFERENCE REPORT

WINTHROP, Mass. - For the fifth time in his career, Norwich men's lacrosse goalie Ian Kriger (Burlington, Mass.) took home the conference Goalie of the Week award, it was announced by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference on Monday afternoon.

The senior netminder stepped up big for the Cadets in a mid-week non-conference tilt at Mass. Maritime, leading Norwich to a 12-10 come from behind victory on Thursday night. Kriger made 19 saves on 29 shots, including three in the fourth quarter to seal up the win.

Ian Kriger now sits second in the conference in goals against average (8.50), save percentage (67.9), as the Norwich goalkeeping unit of Kriger, Brandon Milburn (Bridgewater, N.J.), and Nick Kandra (Crofton, Md.) have put up a 9.20 goals against average and a 63.8 save percentage under the guidance of Norwich defensive coordinator and goalie coach Nick Fischer

This is the fifth Goalie of the Week honor for Kriger, who took home the award for Week Seven of last season on April 17th, and his seventh weekly honor overall counting the two Rookie of the Week honors on his resume. He is the only goalie in Cadets' history to win more than three GNAC Goalie of the Week awards.

Kriger and the rest of the Cadets will be back in action this Tuesday night for their home opener at Sabine Field. They'll host the Thoroughbreds of Skidmore College at 6:00 PM in non-conference action.
