PAXTON, Mass. - The Norwich University men's lacrosse team hit the road on Thursday evening to take on Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) counterpart Anna Maria College, defeating the Amcats by a 12-5 final score.
The first quarter was mostly uneventful, as the two teams found their rhythm. Cody Moore (Canton, N.Y.) netted a man-up goal to give Norwich a brief 1-0 lead, but the Amcats responded with one of their own to make it 1-1 after one. From there, Norwich turned on the jets, outscoring Anna Maria by an 11-4 margin over the next three quarters for a stress-free 12-5 victory.
Cody Moore again led the way for Norwich with four goals, increasing his team-leading season goal total to 18. Payden Masaracchia (Enola, Pa.) continued his torrid pace to start the year with a hat trick and an assist, while freshman Parker Campbell (Rockaway, N.J.) continues to impress in his first season in the maroon and gold, collected a pair of goals and a pair of assists on the evening. Nick Kandra (Crofton, Md.) made six saves in goal to pick up his first win of the year between the pipes.
The Cadets improve to 5-3 overall with the victory and 3-0 within the conference. They'll have a big test on Saturday, when they host conference rival and powerhouse Lasell College for a 1:00 PM showdown between the two preseason favorites in the conference.
