WINTHROP, Mass. - Junior Brandon Milburn (Bridgewater, N.J.) of the Norwich University men's lacrosse team picked up his first-ever Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalie of the Week honor for his performances last week, the third different goalie to take home the honor for Norwich men's lacrosse this season.
This is the first time in the GNAC weekly awards that a program has had three different players take home the Goalie of the Week award for the same team during a season. Ian Kriger and Nick Kandra took home the award in week three and six respectively, all under the guidance of Norwich defensive coordinator and goalie coach Nick Fischer.
Milburn began his award-winning week with a 60:00 nine save performance against Rivier in Norwich's 11-6 triumph over the Raiders on Tuesday, and finished it with a spotless 22:23 in the second half of Norwich's 16-1 drubbing of Regis this past Saturday. On the week, he posted a 4.37 goals against average with 12 saves and a 66.7 save percentage. He ranks first in the conference in goals against and winning percentage and second in goals-against average and save percentage.
Norwich will be back in action this Wednesday, when they host the Spartans of Castleton University at 6:00 PM.
