Men's Rugby: Norwich opens league play with 41-10 win over Bentley

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's rugby team opened up the 2018 Rugby Northeast league schedule with a 41-10 win over Bentley University to extend its conference winning streak to 16 straight games.

Junior Nathan Rolling (Taylorsville, Utah) scored two tries, while Jeffrey Minicucci (Bolton, Conn.) scored a try, had four conversions and a penalty kick for 16 total points to lead the Cadets' offense in the victory.

Bentley jumped on top with a try in the fourth minute to take a 5-0 lead. However, Norwich scored 15 unanswered points to take a 15-5 lead. Minicucci got Norwich on the board in the eighth minute with a penalty kick to cut the deficit to 5-3. Senior Austin Manhey (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) scored an unconverted try in the 12th minute to make it 8-5. Rolling scored his first try of the day in the 37th minute to increase the lead to 15-5.

Bentley got a try back right before the halftime break to cut the deficit to 15-10 after 40 minutes.

Freshman Travis Bartniski (Houston, Texas) scored his first collegiate try to increase the lead to 22-10 with a Minicucci conversion. Rolling scored again in the 58th minute for his fifth try of the season to make it 29-10 following a Minicucci conversion. Minicucci scored a try himself and converted to push the lead to 36-10. Senior Eoghan Savona capped the scoring with a try in the 76th minute to make it 41-10.

Norwich also won the B-side game with a 12-7 win over Bentley. 

The Cadets (1-1, 1-0 Rugby Northeast) travel to Roger Williams for another Rugby Northeast matchup next Saturday. Norwich won 72-7 in last year's meeting in Northfield.
