Men's Rugby: Norwich dominates Providence, 67-10

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's rugby scored 10 tries to rout Providence College 67-10 on Saturday afternoon at the Dog River Rugby Pitch on NU Bicentennial and Homecoming Weekend.

Senior Nathan Rolling (Taylorsville, Utah) scored a team-high four tries in his first game of the 2019 season to lead the Cadets' offense. McKinley Nagel (Lakewood, Ohio) and Michael Del Priore (Ringoes, N.J.) each added two tries as well. 

Noah Cook (Oakdale, Conn.) opened the scoring in the fourth minute to give Norwich a 5-0 lead. Providence answered in the 20th minute to knot the score at 5-5.

Norwich regained the momentum though with three straight converted tries to close the half and take a 26-5 lead after 40 minutes. Travis Bartniski (Houston, Texas), Rolling and Del Priore scored in the 25th, 28th and 39th minute to close the first half scoring.

Del Priore touched down in the 42nd minute and Nagel scored his first in the 45th minute to stretch the lead to 38-5. Rolling scored his second of the game in the 52nd minute to make it 43-5. Providence scored again in the 56th minute, but Norwich closed the game with four more tries and a successful penalty kick to run away from the Friars.

Jeffrey Minicucci (Bolton, Conn.) was 7-for-10 on conversions with the penalty kick to account for 17 on the day.

Norwich (1-2, 1-1 Rugby Northeast) is off next week before traveling to New England College on Oct. 5 for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
