Men's Rugby: Cadets Thump Pilgrims

HENNIKER, N.H. – The Norwich University men's rugby team traveled to take on New England College in Rugby Northeast regular season action on Saturday afternoon.

The Cadets scored 16 unanswered tries en route to a 110-0 victory over the Pilgrims.

Norwich scored nine tries in the first half of play as freshman Leo Clayburgh (Brussels, Belgium) and senior Nate Rolling (Taylorsville, Utah) each scored two tries. Junior Jonah Faneuf (Wake Forest, N.C.), sophomore McKinley Nagel (Lakewood, Ohio), junior William Rambin (Fairfax, Va.), sophomore John Tellifson (Bow, N.H.) and junior Josh Knoll (Braintree, Mass.) all scored a try apiece. Senior Jeffrey Minicucci (Bolton, Conn.) converted eight of the nine tries and added a penalty kick for the 64-0 Cadet lead at halftime.

In the second half NU scored seven tries as Nagel picked up two more and Rolling collected another. Junior Kpatcha Massina (Lome, Togo) scored twice in the half while freshman Ahmad A Bitang (Vero Beach, Fla.) and freshman William Moulton each added a try. Minicucci converted four of the tries with Nagel connecting on three conversions. Faneuf also connected on a penalty kick for the 110-0 final.

The Cadets improve to 2-2 overall with the victory and now stand at 2-1 in Rugby Northeast play. NU is next in action on Saturday, October 12th for a conference match at Middlebury College at 1:00 p.m.
