Men's Soccer: Norwich stays unbeaten, downs Albertus Magnus 3-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Norwich University men's soccer team continued its unbeaten start to the 2018 season with a 3-1 win over Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday night in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Freshman forward Bienfait Badibanga (Burlington, Vt.) had a hand in all three Norwich goals, scoring twice and assisting on another to lead the Cadets' offense in the victory. NU (3-0-3, 1-0-1 GNAC) stretched its unbeaten streak to open the season to six straight games with the victory.

Freshman Amerle Nemeye (Burlington, Vt.) scored a goal and notched an assist, while freshman Bryce Sullenger (Gaithersburg, Md.) had an assist as well to round out the Cadets' offensive leaders on the day.

Norwich took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute with Nemeye scoring his fourth goal of the season off an assist from Bienfait Badibanga

Bienfait Badibanga increased the lead to 2-0 in the 48th minute with a goal off an assist from Sullenger.

Albertus Magnus (1-3-0, 0-1-0 GNAC) answered back a little over two minutes later to cut the defict to 2-1.

However, Bienfait Badibanga put the game away for good with an unassisted tally in the 68th minute for his second of the game and third of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Brendan Germano (Monroe Township, N.J.) made one save for the Cadets to earn the victory. He is now 3-0-3 on the season.

Norwich will look to stay unbeaten on Friday when it hosts Anna Maria College at 5:30 p.m.
