NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven straight games to open the season with a 2-0 victory over Anna Maria on Friday night as part of NU Homecoming Weekend 2018.

Freshman Eric Badibanga (Burlington, Vt.) scored and Anna Maria had an own goal in the first five minutes of the game to account for the Cadets' scoring as they continued on with their best record to start a season since 2008.

Norwich (4-0-3, 2-0-1 GNAC) outshot Anna Maria 33-2. Senior goalkeeper Brendan Germano (Monroe Township, N.J.) was untested, picking up his third shutout of the season while improving to 4-0-3 on the season.

The Cadets took a 1-0 lead 3:42 into the first half when Bryce Sullenger's (Gaithersburg, Md.) cross from the right deflected off an Anna Maria player's leg and into the back of the net.

Eric Badibanga scored his second goal of the season on a header in the 50th minute off a crossing pass from the right by Matt Bento (Brookfield, Conn.). Badibanga headed the ball at the back post and the Anna Maria goalkeeper got a piece of it but not enough to keep it out of the net.

Norwich improved to 8-0-0 against Anna Maria with the victory.

The Cadets hit the road for three of their next four games with Castleton in non-league action on Wednesday and then a conference game vs. Rivier the following Wednesday.
