GNAC Week 6 Report

WINTHROP, Mass. – Senior goalkeeper Brendan Germano (Monroe Township, N.J.) of the Norwich University men's soccer team earned his second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Goalkeeper of the Week award of the season on Monday afternoon.

Germano stopped all five shots he faced on the week to post back-to-back shutouts to lead Norwich to a pair of huge GNAC victories over Regis and Johnson & Wales.

Germano made two saves in Wednesday's 2-0 win on the road at Regis, he then followed up with three saves vs. Johnson & Wales on Saturday. He hasn't allowed a goal in 415:38 and now has six shutouts on the season.

Germano is 9-0-3 and has allowed just six goals this season. His 0.48 goals against average and .867 save percentage rank second in the GNAC to only Saint Joseph's (Maine)'s Blake Mullen.

NU has had a player honored in all six weeks by the GNAC so far. Amerle Nemeye (Burlington, Vt.) was the Week 1 Rookie of the Week, while Germano collected Week 2 Goalkeeper of the Week accolades. Bienfait Badibanga (Burlington, Vt.) won Player and Rookie in Week 3 and 5, while Nemeye repeated in Week 4 as the Rookie of the Week.

Norwich will face Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a rematch of the last two GNAC Championship games. The Monks are undefeated with a perfect 12-0-0 record and are ranked No. 6/15 in the nation in the and United Soccer Coaches rankings respectively.
