Men's Soccer: Nemeye earns GNAC Player of the Week honor

GNAC WEEK 9 REPORT

WINTHROP, Mass. – Sophomore forward Amerle Nemeye (Burlington, Vt.) of the Norwich University men's soccer team was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Nemeye stayed red-hot offensively with another impressive week, totaling two goals and three assists for seven points in two victories on the week as the Cadets locked up the No. 3 seed in the playoffs.

Nemeye had a goal and two assists, including an assist on the game-winning goal in the 5-0 win over Rivier. He added a goal and an assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over Regis, including scoring the game-winning goal to lead the Cadets' offense.

Nemeye has scored nine goals in Norwich's last 10 games to move up to second on the team in scoring behind Joseph Thongsythavong (Salem, Mass.).

Norwich (12-3-1, 7-2-1 GNAC) closes out the GNAC regular season on Wednesday when it hosts Lasell University at 7 p.m. on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium.

Nemeye is the fifth NU men's soccer weekly selection this season after Andrew Kalombo (Worcester, Mass.), Thongsythavong and Robert Wagenseller (Poway, Calif.) twice have each earned honors as well in 2019.

The Cadets will host a GNAC Quarterfinal matchup on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. on Sabine Field at Haynes Family Stadium against a to be determined opponent pending Wednesday's results.
