Swimming & Diving: Cadets Compete Against Pride, Beavers

WESTON, Mass. – The Norwich University swimming & diving teams took on Babson College and host Regis in a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon.

In men's action the Cadets topped the Pride 146-71 and fell to the Beavers 147-75 while the NU women dropped a 160-73 decision to Regis and fell 108-97 to Babson.

In men's action freshman Michael Pierce (Lutherville-Timonium, Md.) won the 200 yard freestyle in 1:50.28 and came in second in the 500 yard freestyle in 4:58.43.

Freshman Cameron Ferriera (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) finished in third in the 200 yard IM in 2:11.04 and the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:06.46 while the team of senior Christopher Danieli (Chelmsford, Mass.), junior Matt Clark (Acworth, Ga.), sophomore Harrison Brock (Alexandria, Va.) and Pierce claimed second in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

On the women's side sophomore Elaine Dudley (North Waterboro, Maine) won the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:19.56.

Junioy Kylee Russell (Swanzey, N.H.) took second in the first 1-meter diving competition of the day with a score of 79.85 while sophomore Abby Weber (Snoqualmie, Wash.) claimed second in the following diving competition with a score of 121.25.

Sophomore Domonique Ector (Buffalo, N.Y.) claimed third in the 100 yard buttefrly in 1:13.70 and the team of freshman Hannah Hughes (Fort Belvoir, Va.), freshman ReAnn Bowen (Marlborough, Mass.), junior Alexis Spry (Corning, N.Y.) and Dudley finished third in the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:56.21.

The Cadets are next in action at the GNAC Championships meet, hosted by Simmons College on December 2nd and 3rd. The Norwich men will look to defend their championship and aim for a seventh-consecutive title.
