Swimming & Diving: Cadet Men Second, Women Third After Day One at GNAC Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving teams competed in day one of the 2019 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship, hosted by Simmons College, on Friday night. 

Through six events the Cadet men sit second out of seven teams with 36 team points while the NU women are third out of eight teams with 78 points.

The team of junior Austen Greene (Herndon, Va.), senior Matt Clark (Acworth, Ga.) junior Harrison Brock (Alexandria, Va.) and senior Dylan Henderson (Commerce Township, Mich.) finished third in the 200 yard freestyle relay in 1:33.59.

Freshman Megan Duffy (Shelton, Conn.) placed fourth in the 1,000 yard freestyle in 11:08.26 while sophomore Sam Carlson (Dedham, Maine) placed third in the men's event in 10:53.18.

Greene, Henderson, junior Alex DiGiacomo (Norfolk, Mass.) and Brock finished second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:42.97. They lost to the Regis College 'A' side by just .50 seconds.

The meet will continue all day Saturday and conclude Sunday evening.
