Swimming & Diving: Cadets Fall At SUNY Potsdam

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Norwich University men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened their seasons at SUNY Potsdam on Saturday afternoon.

The Bears swept the Cadets with a 170-124 win on the men's side and a 177-100 win in women's action.

Freshmen Olivia Kelliher, Megan Duffy (Shelton, Conn.), junior Domonique Ector (Buffalo, N.Y.) and senior Kylee Russell (Swanzey. N.H.) won the 200 yard medley relay in 2:00.82.

Kelliher also claimed the 100 yard backstroke in 1:04.86 and the 200 yard backstroke in 2:26.60 while sophomore Joseph Clark (Acworth, Ga.) took first in the men's 100 yard backstroke in 56.31. Ector took first in the 100 yard butterfly with a time of 1:09.23.

Duffy placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:12.96 and won the 500 yard freestyle in 5:37.51 with fellow freshman Gordon Suwirjo (Derry, N.H.)  won the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.27. Duffy also won the 200 yard IM in 2:19.31. 

Junior Alex DiGiacomo (Norfolk, Mass.) won the 50 yard freestyle in 22.89 and the 100 yard butterfly in 56.54 and sophomore Conor Mhanke claimed first in the 1-meter diving contest with a score of 176.25.

Senior Matt Clark (Acworth, Ga.) took first in the 100 yard freestyle in 50.98 and sophomore Cameron Ferreira (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) won the 200 yard IM in 2:07.70.

The Cadets are next in action on Wednesday, October 24th at Colby-Sawyer College at 5:00 p.m.
