BOSTON, Mass. – The Norwich University swimming & diving teams competed in day two of the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association Championships, hosted by MIT, on Friday evening.
Through 20 events the Cadet men sit third out of eight teams with 216 points while the NU women hold 15th place out of 20 teams with 100 points.
Sophomore Joseph Clark (Acworth, Ga.) broke his own school record in the 200 yard backstroke, posting a time of 1:57.51 and placing fourth in the finals.
The team of junior Alex DiGiacomo (Norfolk, Mass.), junior Austen Greene (Herndon, Va.) junior Harrison Brock (Alexandria, Va.) and senior Dylan Henderson (Commerce Township, Mich.) finished third in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.29.
DiGiacomo also finished fourth in the 50 yard freestyle in 21.74 and fifth in the 100 yard butterfly in 52.76 while Henderson placed fifth in the 50 yard breaststroke in 28.28.
Freshman Megan Duffy (Shelton, Conn.) placed eighth in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:29.41 and seventh in the 200 yard IM in 2:16.80.
Sophomore Sam Carlson (Dedham, Maine) finished in eighth place in the 500 yard freestyle in 5:03.53 with fellow sophomore Cameron Ferreria (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) placing fifth in the 200 yard IM in 2:02.59.
The team of Clark, Henderson, freshman Gordon Suwirjo (Derry, N.H.) and DiGiacomo finished in fourth in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 3:39.78.
The Cadets are back in the pool on Saturday, with the event concluding on Sunday.
