NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving teams hosted Colby-Sawyer College in a dual meet at Goodyear Pool on Saturday.
The Cadets swept the Chargers with a 144-44 victory on the men's side and a 140-136 win in women's action.
Freshman Nikky Ansley (Berlin, Germany) continued her torrid start to the season with wins in the women's 200 yard freestyle (2:03.00), the 50 yard freestyle (25.60) and the 500 yard freestyle (5:42.31). Sophomore Megan Duffy (Shelton, Conn.) matched Ansley's three individual wins with victories in the women's 100 yard breaststroke (1:12.07), the 200 yard IM (2:17.81) and the 100 yard butterfly (1:01.97)
Sophomore Brian Parrott (Londonderry, N.H.) claimed first in the men's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.76 while freshman Tess Whalen (Berryville, Va.) won the 50 yard breaststroke in 36.12. Junior Cameron Ferreira (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) took the top spot in the men's 100 yard butterfly in 57.85, while senior Alex DiGiacomo (Norfolk, Mass.) took the 50 yard freestyle in 22.34 and the 100 yard freestyle in come-from-behind fashion in 49.60.
The team of sophomore Olivia Kelliher (Weymouth, Mass.), Ansley, Duffy and junior Keely Purington (Kailua, Hawaii) won the 400 yard medley relay in 4:25.32, while the team of junior Joseph Clark (Acworth, Ga.) Ferriera, freshman Derek Furtado (Plymouth, Mass.) and DiGiacomo won the men's event in 3:30.84.
Sophomore Sarah Carls won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 183.45.
The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, November 2nd for a home meet against SUNY Potsdam. That meet is slated for 1:00 p.m.
