Men's Tennis: Eastern Nazarene roars past Norwich, 9-0

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Eastern Nazarene College on Monday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action at Shapiro Field House.

Norwich (8-9, 0-3 GNAC North) remained winless in league play with the loss to the conference newcomer as the Lions (12-6, 3-0 GNAC North) swept doubles 3-0 and then finished up by taking all six singles matches.

The Cadets put forth valiant efforts at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, but Dylan Ackerman (Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands) and Sam Beiter (Youngstown, N.Y.) eventually lost 8-3 at the top doubles spot, while Alexi Gilmore (Haverhill, Mass.) and Noah Stillman (Danbury, Conn.) lost 8-4 at No. 2 doubles. 

Ackerman fell 6-1, 6-4 to Henry Siercke at No. 1 singles to provide the closet score for the Cadets in singles action. Abbie Barker (Warren, Vt.) also lost 6-3, 6-2 to Tim Schoengens at No. 5 singles. 

Norwich will play a neutral site match at First in Fitness in Berlin, Vt. vs. Thomas College on Sunday at 3 p.m. 

The Cadets close the 2019 season with two straight road league matches at Regis and Suffolk on April 18 and April 20.
