BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Norwich University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Bowdoin College Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The Cadet men finished second with 44 points, just three behind Bowdoin, and the women's team didn't field a full squad to qualify for a team score.
In men's action senior Korey Leonard (Pembroke, Mass.) led the team with a third place finish in 26:08.5 on the 8 meter course. Fellow senior Brody Hale (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished in fifth in 26:16.6 with junior Jack McNally (Nokesville, Va.). Freshman Zachary Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.) (14th, 27:16.8), junior Warren Yacawych (Northfield, Vt.) (16th, 27:22.1) and fellow junior William Rapsas (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) (21st, 27:52.6) rounded out Cadets in the top 25.
On the women's side junior Robyn Hageman (Westlake, Ohio) led the team with a 22nd place finish in 24:50.6 on the 5 meter course. Freshman Belle Magna (Canton, Conn.) finished in 61st with a time of 27:08.7 while senior Amy Blair (Fairfax, Vt.) (64th, 27:32;2) and sophomore Paige Roche (Cohasset, Mass.) (70th, 28:02.5) rounded out the NU side.
The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, October 27th at the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championship meet, hosted by Saint Josephs' College (Maine). The women's race is set for 1:00p.m. with the men's set for 2:00 p.m.
