WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Norwich University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 23rd Annual James Earley Invitational, hosted by Westfield State, on Saturday.
The Cadet men placed third out of 29 teams with 108 points while the NU women finished 16th out of 29 teams with 374 points.
Junior Adam Saucier (Massena, N.Y.) paced all Norwich runners with a fifth-place finish in 25:55.93 on the 8k course. Junior Jack McNally (Nokesville, Va.) finished 12th in 26:25.98 while senior Korey Leonard (Pembroke, Mass.) finished just behind in 14th 26:31.55. Freshman Zachary Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.) capped Cadet finishers in the top 50 with a 42nd-place finish in 27:45.68.
In women's action senior Carisa DeKalb (San Diego, Calif.) led the squad once again with a 24th-place finish in 19:39.66 on the 5k course. Junior Robyn Hageman (Westlake, Ohio) finished in 74th place in 20:47.42 with sophomore Olivia Giarrizzo (Tampa, Fla.) placed 91st in 21:15.40. Freshman Belle Magna (Canton, Conn.) concluded NU finishers in the top 100 with a 96th-place finish 21:25.48.
Norwich is next in action on Saturday, October 13th at the Bowdoin College Invitational. The women's race is slated for 11:00 a.m. with the men's race set for noon.
