MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Norwich University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Aldrich Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon.
The Cadet men placed third with 81 points while the women's team finished in fourth with 113 points.
Junior Adam Saucier (Massena, N.Y.) led all Norwich runners with an eighth-place finish (27:13) in the 8k men's race. Senior Korey Leonard (Pembroke, Mass.) finished in 17th place with a time of 27:50.5 while fellow senior Brody Hale (Naugatuck, Conn.) placed 26th in 28:44.7. Sophomore William Rapsas (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) capped Cadet men in the top 30 with a 29:09.9 final time and a 30th place finish.
On the women's side Norwich was led by senior Carisa DeKalb (San Diego, Calif), who placed 15th overall in 20:55.6 on the 5k course. Freshman Belle Magna (Canton, Conn.) placed 32nd overall in 22:35.7. Sophomore Olivia Giarrizzo (Tampa, Fla.) placed 34th in 22:49.3 with sophomore Paige Roche (Cohasset, Mass.) finishing in 49th with a time of 24:54.1 and sophomore Sarah Ingraham (Shoreview, Minn.) following her in 51st place in 25:01.3.
The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, September 22nd for the Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational at St. Lawrence University. The women's race is set for 11 a.m. with the men's race to follow at noon.
