Cross Country: Both Teams Capture Fourth at CSC Invitational

NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Norwich University cross country teams opened their respective seasons at the Colby-Sawyer Invitational, hosted by Colby-Sawyer College, on Saturday morning. 

Both the Cadet men and women finished in fourth place as the men's team collected 79 points and the women recorded 84 points.

On the women's side, NU was paced by freshman Remingtin Parker, who finished fourth overall in her first collegiate meet with a time of 20:58.84 on the 5k course. Parker was followed by senior Robyn Hageman (Westlake, Ohio), who placed 10th in 21:40.24.

Freshman Jacie Harlow (25th place, 23:22.63), junior Olivia Giarrizzo (Tampa, Fla.) (28th, 23:32.30) and sophomore Belle Magna (Canton, Conn.) (30th, 23:43.05) capped Cadet runners in the top 30. 

In men's action, senior Adam Saucier (Massena, N.Y.) led the squad with a 14th place finish in 17:40.00 on the 5k course. Junior Trenton Shimata (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished in 16th with a time of 17:46.24 while sophomore Nate Stucky (Fort Bragg, N.C.) (18th place, 17:53.34) and fellow sophomore Zachary Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.) (19th, 17:55.70) capped NU finishers in the top 20.

The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, September 7th for the Vermont Tech Invitational. Both races are slated for an 11:00 a.m. start.
