STANDISH, Maine – The Norwich University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Championships, hosted by Saint Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday.
The NU men finished just three points behind champion Colby-Sawyer College with 59 points while the Cadet women placed sixth with 131 points.
Senior Adam Saucier (Massena, N.Y.) paced the Norwich men with a seventh place finish in 27:44 on the 8k course. Sophomore Zachary Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.) took 10th with a time of 28:00 with junior Trenton Shimata (Colorado Springs, Colo.) finishing in 11th in 28:24. Saucier earned First Team All-Conference honors for his efforts.
Sophomore Nate Stucky (Fort Bragg, N.C.) finished 13th in 28:36 and freshman Nate Jones took 18th with a time of 29:18. Bergeron, Shimata and Stucky were all named to All-Conference Second Team honors.
In women's action freshman Remi Parker led the team once again, finishing in seventh overall with a time of 25:03 on the 6k course. Parker earned a spot on the First Team All-Conference team with her effort. Senior Robyn Hageman (Westlake, Ohio) finished 24th in 26:46. Sophomore Belle Magna (Canton, Conn.) took 31st in in 27:30 while freshman Katerina Schmitt finished in 34th with a time of 27:35.
The Cadets are next in action at the 2019 NCAA Division III New England Regionals on Saturday, November 16th. Bowdoin College will serve as this year's host institution.
