Softball: Norwich drops exhibition doubleheader to CCBC

Catonsville, Md. - The Norwich University softball team played one final tune up exhibition series vs. Community College of Baltimore Catonsville on Friday afternoon.

Norwich dropped the first game 5-4 and then also fell in the nightcap by a score of 6-2.

In the first game, junior pitcher Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) pitched five innings giving up one run and scattered four hits. The Cadets led the entire way until the bottom of the seventh when CCBC rallied to take the win. Senior Sarah Perry (New Bedford, Mass.), junior Naomi Rinaldo (Middlefield, Conn.) and Oliver contributed three hits each offensively. Freshman Brittany Vandergroef (Lodi, N.J.) also contributed two hits to lead the Norwich offense in the game.

In the second game, Perry, Lexis Gayac (Nashua, N.H.), Elizabeth Niven (Londonderry, N.H.), Xiomarra Torres (Elsmford, N.Y.), Robyn Cristiano (Robert Lee, Texas) and Madeline Folcik (Wilmot, N.H.) all contributed one hit each.
