WINTHROP, Mass. – Junior Naomi Rinaldo (Middlefield, Conn.) was named to the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Third Team on Tuesday afternoon.
Rinaldo earned All-GNAC honors for the second straight season after she earned Third Team plaudits last season as well.
Rinaldo led the Cadets in many offensive categories including runs (25), hits (34), doubles (10), home runs (two), RBIs (32) and eight stolen bases.
She posted a career-high .405 batting average and .643 slugging percentage after switching to play first base for most of the season. Rinaldo has been versatile throughout her career moving from shortstop as a freshman, centerfield as a sophomore to then first base for most of this season.
Rinaldo has 72 RBIs through three seasons, which ties her for 10th all-time in program history with Wendy Weber '98. She also reached the 100-career-hit milestone on Apr. 21 vs. Albertus Magnus.
Rinaldo helped lead Norwich to a 12-16 overall record in 2018 and a 10-14 mark in league play. The Cadets narrowly missed out on the GNAC playoffs after tying for eighth place and then losing out in a tiebreaker to Lasell College for the final spot.
Norwich has now had 12 GNAC All-Conference selections over the last five seasons.
Sophomore Makenna Wade (Pensacola, Fla.) was selected to the GNAC Sportsmanship team.
