Women's Basketball: Norwich picked eighth in GNAC Preseason Poll

WINTHROP, Mass. - The Norwich University women's basketball team has been projected to finish eighth this year in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC), according to the annual Preseason Coaches Poll released on Thursday afternoon.

Head Coach Mark Zacher and the Cadets finished up 2017-18 with a 10-16 overall record and a 7-9 mark within the conference. Norwich found their way into the GNAC playoffs for the fifth straight season where they took on the #2 seed Emmanuel College Saints, falling in the GNAC Quarterfinals by a 79-52 final score. 

In this year's poll, Norwich was selected eighth with 80 total points. Conference heavyweight Saint Joseph's College of Maine garnered 11 of 13 first-place votes to sit in first place with 165 total points. Just behind them are the Saints of Emmanuel College with a single first-place vote and 154 votes, while Suffolk took the remaining first-place vote and 145 points for third. The Cadets open up the regular season on November 10th at Plattsburgh, before returning to Northfield on November 13th for their home opener against New England College at 5:30 PM.
