Women's Basketball: Casamassa picks up GNAC Rookie of the Week award

OFFICIAL CONFERENCE RELEASE

WINTHROP, Mass. - Freshman forward Mary Casamassa (Wexford, Pa.) took home the first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week award for Norwich in two seasons, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.

Casamassa made her collegiate debut last Saturday in the Cadets season opener at Plattsburgh. The Pennsylvania native saw 36 minutes on the court, and used them to record a 15 point, 10 rebound double-double in her first collegiate action. She also added in two assists, two steals, and a block, while going a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line.

This is the first Rookie of the Week honor for Norwich since current senior Vanessa Fleury (Lebanon, N.H.) took home the award in February of 2016. Casamassa is just the eight Cadet all-time to take home the honor in women's basketball history.

The Cadets are back in action for their home opener on Tuesday, November 13th, when they host New England College for a 5:30 PM tilt in Andrews Hall Gymnasium.
